2019 Wild Wanderers - Behind the Scenes at DinoRidge and DMNS
Behind the Scenes at FODR and DMNS on Friday October 18, 2019
Sneak a peek at the work being done to help build the Friends of Dinosaur Ridge fossil collections and then venture on to DMNS for an ultra-special behind the scenes tour of the DMNS Geology Department with department head Dr. James Hagadorn.
This trip begins at 8:00 am with a selection of unique pieces from the Friends of Dinosaur Ridge collection for the group to view and interact with. Explanation and questions will be answered by FODR staffers Blake Sullivan and Erin LaCount, who have a combined knowledge of anything and everything our mystical cabinets* can produce!
* additional fees may apply if we find Narnia
After viewing the Friends of Dinosaur Ridge collections, we will all hop on a bus and head towards DMNS for our behind the scenes with Dr. Hagadorn! Dr. Hagadorn will lead us on a geologic journey that would rival any time machine! Talking about rocks and minerals of Colorado and the Front Range as well as those that formed in other places around the world and why they are so important to us. View super special pieces that are not seen by the everyday visitors, gawk at golden nuggets the size of your head, and try to stump Dr. Hagadorn with your mineral musings.
Price includes full day access at DMNS, so following the guided tour, guests are free to enjoy a late lunch and wander the Museum until 5pm. Transportation back to FODR provided.
